Smart Voyager is an optional eco-certification program that is recognized by Rainforest Alliance. The Smart Voyager program was created in 1998, with the aim to minimize the environmental impacts of tourism. In the year 2002, Smart Voyager was recognized by UNESCO, as an example that should be implemented in all of the natural patrimonies of humanity. Smart Voyager is a founding member of the Sustainable Tourism Certification Network of the Americas.
In order to obtain the Smart Voyager Certification our Hotels has demonstrated it adheres to strict environmental, social, safety and comfort standards.

Two days before Christmas 2008 we were going to the jungle
Two days before Christmas 2008 we were going to the jungle. I travelled through Ecuador with a Dutch Djoser group. We arrived with the boat at the lodge. The first impression was good, because we had our first welcome drink during that trip.
After the drink we were escorted to our cabins. I expected basic circumstances, not this! No standing in line for one shower and one toilet and no candles to light up the night. Every cabin had its own bathroom, toilet, electricity and a hammock on the porch! What is that sound? The horn sounded for a 3 course diner. Water for free, a cold beer for a few dollars.
The next morning we had a guided tour through the rain forest. That was good fun, but warm. The guide showed plants and trees with healing fluid. One guy from the group had sore gums. We rubbed some 'devils blood' on it and after a few hours the sore gums were gone! The raft in a tube over the river was a good start of Christmas Eve; snacks with sangria, diner with fine wine and a campfire with local musicians.

Fuente de Piedra was one of the most pleasant places I have had the pleasure of staying.
One of the best things about the hostel is the excellent front desk staff, extremely nice and helpful. I will certainly recommend this location to friends and colleagues for future travel.
They were very patient with all our questions and needs. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was served with a smile. All round pleasant place to be.
Thank you! Everything was fine in Fuente de Piedra II. The staff is always smiling and friendly. The shower worked well - the best in South America! The rooms were nicely different and warm, the breakfast is sufficient and good.

The front desk staff are ALL amazingly kina and attentive. They assisted in speakings with Airline staff regarding our lost luggage, always with a smile. They were always available for questions and provided great answers. Breakfasts were great and the restaurant staff were welcoming and helpful. Security staff was great too. Rooms were beautiful everyday.
