Yacuma Ecolodge is only accessible by boat from San Pedro village or Santa Rosa village. Visitors will drive from Quito, following the beautiful route that goes through Papallacta and Baeza, until arriving to the city of Tena.

This drive lasts about 4 hours and is plenty of exhilarating and very scenic landscape ranging from the highlands of the spectacular Andes to the low lands of the upper basin of the Great Amazon River. From Tena the journey continues for about 1 hour and 45 minutes more until San Pedro or Santa Rosa Village from where our dug-out canoes will take you (travel time 30-45 minutes) to Yacuma Ecolodge located in a magnificent jungle spot.

Visitors can also fly from Quito to the city of Tena every week on Monday or Friday, when available. If you arrive to Tena by plane, we will pick you up at the airport and take you to San Pedro or Santa Rosa Village and then by canoe to Yacuma Ecolodge.

Activities

Every destination offers a diversity of cultures, fauna and flora, and beautiful sights. With our activities we want to show you the highlights of Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest consisting out of:

  • Guided nature hikes
Local guides give expert interpretation as our guests cross the varied forest habitats of the Yacuma Forest Reserve. There are over 10 Km of trails to choose from, where visitors will learn about medicinal, fruit and exotic plants. Our jungle trekking can be done during the day.
  • Bird watching
Over 340 bird species live in the vicinity of Yacuma Reserve. Expert local guides easily identify their songs and calls.
  • Wildlife viewing
Our visitors may have a glimpse, with luck, of some of the wildlife that inhabits the area, such as monkeys, capybaras, wild pigs, to name a few. But in fact, and this is very important to know, that it is a quite difficult task to observe this extraordinary wildlife due to the simple fact that in the jungle there is a struggle for life so everybody is hiding to survive.
  • Canoe trips and fishing
Guest can enjoy canoe trips and fishing opportunities on Napo River.
  • Swimming or relaxing
After a day of hiking we can have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim in the Chontayacu River, Sumino River or Napo River. Or simply relax in a hammock while listening to the sounds of the forest.
  • Tubing
Experience the adrenaline when tubing town a part of the Napo river.
